My sweet Sally died last night I held her hand by candlelight And in one kiss we said goodbye In a kiss we said goodbye Now I drive that pickup south To the great Columbia's mouth And to the sky I shout it out "You let my baby die" Blue highways are where I'm bound I might be passing through your town Until I find a place to lay her down A place to lay her down

Wake beside you, lit by the rays Of autumn’s dusty light Take my hand, we’ll walk to the canyon Watch the sun take flight Coffee danglin’, your keys are janglin’ Detour round the bend Canyon opens, both of us hopin’ This day never ends We have always wanted nothing more than this We’re so lucky now You could call it bliss You wear pink and I wear green Or the other way around Twirling, whirling, colors are swirling We dance across the ground All alone the moment’s our own At the bridge across the stream Hearts and minds and arms are entwined In the music of our dreams We have always wanted nothing more than this We’re so lucky now You could call it bliss We have always wanted nothing more than this We’re so lucky now You could call it bliss We have always wanted nothing more than this We’re so lucky now You could call it bliss You could call it bliss Nothing more than this Call it bliss

about

A bright, upbeat folk-rock collection of memorable songs - eight originals plus a cover. Smooth male/female trio harmonies float over sweet acoustic backing, with lots of fancy mandolin and guitar leads.

It began as a solo project by San Francisco songwriter Eric Beattie, wanting to record acoustic versions of some of his songs old and new. As it evolved, Eric recruited his wife Marymoore Patterson and old friend Sam Pointer to collaborate, additional songs were added, and the Hitchhiking Honeymoon trio was born. By the way, Eric built two of the guitars he and Sam use on this album.

This first album was released under their three names. By the second album "River Friend" they had adopted "Hitchhiking Honeymoon" (the title of the first album) as their band name. Eric and Sam have co-produced both albums.
